A new coffee shop, Galu, recently opened near my workplace, and I decided to check it out during lunch. I arrived around 11:15 AM, and the place was bustling with activity. Several people were outside enjoying their drinks. The shop had limited outdoor seating and no indoor seating, just enough space inside for a small line to form. There also appeared to be a small bench along the wall for waiting. Instead of my usual coffee, I opted for their Strawberry Matcha drink since I'd already had plenty of caffeine during meetings. Having tried similar drinks in both San Diego and the Bay Area, I can say this one stood out as one of the better versions. Before mixing, I took a sip and found the matcha completely unsweetened--worth noting if you're expecting otherwise. The strawberry and milk layer on its own was quite sweet, but once blended, the flavors balanced beautifully. For someone like me, who doesn't enjoy overly sweet drinks, it was just right. However, one issue left a sour note. When my drink was ready, it had spilled over the rim. The tabletop underneath was wet, and matcha dripped down the sides of the cup. The staff handed it to me without wiping it clean, which seemed careless. Taking a moment to tidy up the cup before giving it to the customer would have been a much better approach. However, overall it was a good experience and it seemed to be a pretty popular spot.
One of the best local Café's in Chula Vista Pros: - Amazing coffee ( specifically the lattes) - Baristas and service are very friendly every day () - local vibes sand ambiance are , very relaxing - outside seating is a plus (although seats are tiny but ) - Delicious food Cons: - seating is limited and the place can get packed but that's expected for a small cafe. Overall an amazing place for great tasting coffee , food and service. Highly recommended!
My friend and I stopped in for lunch today, and it was sooo good! I'm typically not a banana girlie, but the banana latte was recommended to me by the girl who worked there and I'm glad she did! The foam was thick and delicious and the drink itself was so yummy. Like. Only a hint of banana flavor, not at all overwhelming. So so so good! I also ordered the grilled cheese which was perfectly toasted and the soup was thick and delicious! I didn't try the Reuben, but my friend said it was really good! I'll definitely be back!
A cute little cafe on 3rd avenue! I've been once before and wanted to come back to try their new menu items. I got the new banana cream latte, mushroom toast, and chilaquiles. The banana latte had great flavor (I'm a huge banana drink fan) and it was really rich. The mushroom toast is a classic, the chilli oil had good spice. The chilaquiles were also a new item and came with an egg soufflé and were coated in a spicy cheese based sauce which was really rich. I really want to come back to try their Ruben sandwich! Service for drinks were fast, food came out about 10 min later. I think this was a great edition to the cafe scene down in south bay!
I definitely have to come back to try their coffees! I ordered: STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE: This was really good! Not too sweet and the strawberry flavor was potent but not overwhelming. REGULAR MATCHA: I added agave to this so I'm not sure if that's why this didn't taste like matcha at all but it tasted like green juice lol. I'll try this without the addition of agave maybe just honey next time but I didn't like it much with agave. All in all, super cute coffee shop with nice outdoor seating!
I tried Galu for the first time yesterday, and it was AMAZING! I ordered the banana cream latte, and it was absolutely heavenly--smooth, creamy, and perfectly sweet without being overpowering. I also had their almond butter toast, and wow... 10/10! The flavors were so fresh, and the portion was just right. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Definitely a hidden gem I'll be coming back to! Highly recommend if you're a coffee lover or brunch fanatic.
This a cool little coffee shop and cafe located on Third Ave., Chula Vista. They offer no inside seating but some tables out on the side walk under a shaded tree. I had the avocado toast and an iced matcha latte. The toast was $10 and the matcha latte $6.50. The toasted was very good. I would of preferred freshly slices on my toast, but what do your do? The smashed avocado was tasty, and the pepita crunch was fantastic. It gave the toast nice texture. The cherry tomatoes were fresh. The matcha latte was of very good quality. It smooth and tasted quite good. I did ask them to put a touch of honey in it to cut back on the bitterness. I enjoyed it. The service at the counter was nice.
